Number of Vacancies: 1Area of Consideration: Open to the PublicEmployment Status: Part-Time, Temporary (less than 30 hours)Pay Plan, Series & Grade: DS0073/10Salary Range: $22,690Closing Date: Open Until FilledLocation: 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008Brief Description of Duties:Incumbent functions as an Auditorium Management Aide in the Office of the Vice President for Administration, UDC, and as such has the responsibility for the performance of the following duties as designated by the Auditorium Manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as official host to the public, schedules and supervises all ushering staff. Maintains the Auditorium report, coordinates all emergency procedures with the appropriate departments.
  • Assists in directing internal public traffic, may collect tickets at the door. Auditorium staff will at no time handle the sale of tickets or collect any revenue for any auditorium 'user).
  • May distribute programs and other materials to patrons entering the facility.
  • Will ensure the safe passage of all aisles and exits.
  • Makes the initial contact with the producing organization to facilitate crew assignments. After determining needs, make crew assignment from Call list.
  • Coordinates all activities on the stage during rehearsals and performance, directly supervises all crew in the operation of their duties, maintains the time schedule for a given call.
  • Handles the set-up and rigging of all stage scenery; Inspects and ensures the safe operation of the stage "Fly System". Handles the shifting of all scenery during rehearsals and performance.
  • Handles the set-up and connection of all lighting and special effects equipment, inspects and maintains the lighting system; operates the lighting system during all rehearsals and performance; the board operator must not leave the board during any time that the house is open to the public.
  • Handles the set and connection of all Auditorium sound equipment; inspects and maintains the sound system; operates the sound system during rehearsals and performance; upon request will make archival recordings for the producer of the event.
  • Handles the set-up and operation of Follow spot equipment; operates the follow spot during all rehearsals and performances.
  • Handles the set-up of all "Hand & Stage" props coordinates the use of all property during rehearsal and performance; maintains the cleaning of the stage before and after a performance.
  • Coordinates the use of the Dressing Rooms during rehearsals and performance; facilitates the maintenance of small wardrobe repair problems.
  • Has the sole responsibility of maintaining Fire Safety in the Auditorium; must maintain all Fire Safety equipment on stage; must maintain all Fire Safety in the Auditorium; must maintain all Fire Safety equipment on stage; must ensure clear exits; must prevent the use of combustibles without the proper written authorization.
  • Must enforce the NO SMOKING regulations of the D.C. Fire Code - Part Two, Section 2,1 and 2,2; must immediately report a fire to the Fire Department and coordinate the safe implementation of Emergency Procedures by Stage and House Crews.Minimum Job Requirements:
    • High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Knowledge of the regulations, procedures and services of the Office of the Vice President for Administration.
    • Ability to maintain moderately complex records, as well as to perform the work of the position.
    • Ability to make relatively complex arithmetical computations rapidly and accurately.
    • Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously and to work harmoniously with other employees.
