resource to assist with various areas of data governance and data
hygiene.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works in a collaborative environment with various project teams
to support Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security
Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) mission.
- Conduct trend analysis on PERSEC data and other HSPD-12
reports.
- Provide advice, assistance, and written recommendations based
on data analysis and results.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of reports,
documents, presentations, and data requests.
- Required to develop a broad and in-depth understanding of the
various data sets with minimal guidance.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance
of good and accurate data flowing from user inputs to reporting
outputs.
- Develops and maintains quality control standards and data
reconciliation techniques for internal and external reporting.
- Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a
client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of
data.
- Understand current state processes and recommend improvements
to make programs and processes more efficient and effective.
- Ability to understand and anticipate client needs and pain
points to recommend requirements in DHS data systems.
- Ability to understand customer tools and reporting capabilities
to interpret the data and conduct detailed data analysis.
- Promotes compliance with agreed data governance principles, and
where necessary, takes action to respond to improper activities in
relation to secondary use of data.
- Conducts data hygiene to ensure accurate data is being
reported.
- Ability to analyze data from relational databases and
understand data structures.
- Ability to explain and document complex methodologies in simple
words.
- Liaison with the technical development team by articulating
operational and mission needs.POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree.
- 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge and experience with tools such as Tableau and Power
BI.
- Expert in Excel.
- PERSEC and HSPD-12 data knowledge is preferred.
- Understanding and passion for emerging technology.
- Familiarity with JIRA is a plus.
- Self-starter.
- Excellent detailed analytical skills.
- Team-oriented individual who can work with multiple sizes of
groups or departments, as well as a diverse group of
individuals.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to
present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to
clients.
- Willingness to "work until the job is done" - and commitment to
the mission.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Proficient in windows-based software including Word,
